The Sports Sector of the Lepel District Executive Committee (hereinafter referred to as the Sector) is a structural unit of the Lepel District Executive Committee (hereinafter referred to as the District Executive Committee), subordinate to the District Executive Committee, the Department of Sports of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, and the Ministry of Sports of the Republic of Belarus; it exercises state administration in the field of sports within the territory of the Lepel District.

The Sports Sector was established on the basis of Decree of the President of the Republic of Belarus of February 28, 2018 No. 91-dsp "On the Structure and Staffing of State Bodies", Resolution of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus of March 19, 2018 No. 203 "On the Procedure and Conditions for Establishing Structural Subdivisions in State Bodies and the Staffing of Certain State Bodies", and Decision of the Lepel District Executive Committee of May 30, 2018 No. 504 "On Optimising the Structure of the Lepel District Executive Committee and Approving Regulations".

The State Institution "Lepel District Physical Culture and Health Centre" (hereinafter referred to as SI "LDPC") carries out its activities in organising and conducting physical culture and health promotion and sports mass work with the population, possesses the necessary sports facilities, and operates daily from 8:00 to 22:00.

The work carried out is aimed at improving the level of physical culture and health promotion and sports mass work with the population, preventive work with minors, the role of physical culture and sport in forming a healthy lifestyle, creating conditions for the successful performance of district athletes in competitions of various levels, fulfilling the projected target indicators of socio-economic development of the industry, and state standards.

There are 140 sports facilities available for the district population, including: 86 in rural areas. 27 sports and play grounds at places of residence.

Activities of SESSI "SCYSR of Lepel District":

implementation of state programmes for the development of physical culture and sports in the Republic of Belarus for the training of sports reserves for national and сборные teams of the Republic of Belarus, sports clubs (teams) in team sports; training of trainee and reserve squads for the national teams of the Republic of Belarus in sports;
selection of students with high achievement potential in sports and their transfer to other specialised educational and sports institutions and Olympic reserve schools that train national and сборные teams of the Republic of Belarus in sports;
organisation and conduct of the educational and training process, including in a sports and health camp, ensuring the training of sports reserves;
ideological and educational work;
medical, scientific and methodological support for the sports training of sports reserves.
