State institution "Lepel Military Sanatorium of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus" is a 1st category sanatorium and is located 12 kilometers from the city of Lepel, away from large settlements in a picturesque hilly area covered by a pine forest. On a raised isthmus between two large deep lakes with crystal clear water. The large lake, on the shore of which the dining room building, beach, and boat station are located, is called Bobritsa, and the smaller one on the opposite side is Shchibot.
Lepel region is a picturesque corner of Belarus. Nature has generously endowed it with forests, lakes, and rivers. In evergreen pine forests, dozens of names of trees and shrubs can be counted.
Here are magnificent tall mast pines, sprawling fir trees, maples, thujas, and, of course, the Russian birch, which pleases our eyes. This beauty and richness of Belarusian nature is complemented by the smooth surface of numerous lakes, of which there are 94 in the Lepel region. It is not for nothing that people have poeticized this corner, calling it the land of Blue Lakes.
It is unlikely that one can remain indifferent when walking along a narrow forest road, and above your head, in the sparkling rays of the sun, the crowns of ancient pines and emerald fir trees bathe. The air is filled with the scents of pine needles, it is transparent and clean, like the azure sky, and its beneficial effect on health is difficult to overestimate. In the ringing silence of the forest, nightingale trills are heard from time to time, and the businesslike tapping of a hard worker – a woodpecker.
The climate is forest, even, mild, moderately humid.
The Minsk-Vitebsk, Polotsk road passes near the sanatorium.

The sanatorium is specialized, multidisciplinary for the treatment of patients with diseases of:

Availability of natural therapeutic factors
The climate is moderately continental. Characteristic features of the sanatorium's climate are low air temperature – up to 25-30 C in summer (average daily temperature in summer is 17.7 C), -4.3 C in winter. Relative humidity up to 60%, low wind speed, 1500 hours of sunshine per year. Altitude above sea level 173 m. Latitude of the area 55.9. Average annual atmospheric pressure 746.4 mm Hg.
The main climatotherapeutic factors of the sanatorium are aerotherapy, heliotherapy, and thalassotherapy, used in various methods.
Aerotherapy includes round-the-clock aerotherapy and air baths taken by patients in climate pavilions on the lake shore, on verandas, and balconies.
Heliotherapy – therapeutic use of sun baths in the sanatorium is carried out at a temperature of 17-30 C.
Thalassotherapy – swimming in the lake at a temperature of 16 C and above.
The combined use of climatotherapy methods with other procedures allows for increased efficiency of sanatorium treatment.
Balneotherapy
The main therapeutic factor of the sanatorium is sulfate-chloride-sodium-calcium water from well No. 2 with a mineralization of 5.6 g/l, extracted from a depth of 300 m, which is used for internal intake, as well as for irrigation of the stomach, intestines, and gums. In terms of its physicochemical properties and therapeutic effect, it is close to Ugliche mineral water, Novoye-Izhevsk spring mineral water, and Zhdanovichi mineral water. The content of main ions was: chlorides – 0.6 g/dm, sulfates – 2.8 g/dm, bicarbonates – 0.1 g/dm, sodium – 1.1 g/dm, potassium – 0.02 g/dm, calcium – 0.4 g/dm, magnesium – 0.1 g/dm. The water reaction is slightly alkaline. pH – 7.2.
Lepel mineral water is used in the treatment of chronic gastritis, stomach and duodenal ulcers, chronic liver and biliary tract diseases, chronic colitis, and pancreatitis.
On the territory of the sanatorium, a well-equipped drinking hall for mineral water is functioning, where sanatorium patients can relax among evergreen plants, watch TV, listen to music, and familiarize themselves with the works of local folk craftsmen.
Mineral water from well № 1, extracted from a depth of about 600 m, is also widely used in the sanatorium. It is a brine of chloride, sodium, sulfate composition with a mineralization of 39.6 g/l. It also contains calcium and bromine as biologically active elements. Analogues of this water are the waters of the resorts "Usolye", "Dorokhovo", "Zimenki", "Druskininkai". The content of main ions was: chlorine – 21.1 g/dm, sulfates – 3.7 g/dm, bicarbonates – 0.03 g/dm, sodium – 12.0 g/dm, calcium – 1.5 g/dm, potassium – 0.07 g/dm. pH – 7.0.
These waters are used in the form of baths for the treatment of diseases of the peripheral nervous system, circulatory organs, and metabolic disorders.
Based on Lepel mineral water from well № 1, artificial iodine-bromine baths have been used in the sanatorium since 1999, which are very popular with patients.
Mud therapy
The physiotherapy department includes a mud therapy room, where general and local applications, as well as electro-mud procedures, are used.
In our sanatorium, sapropel mud from Lake Sudobl, Smolevichi district, Minsk region, is used for therapeutic purposes.
It has been studied by scientists of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Belarus and recommended for health, therapeutic, and rehabilitation procedures.
In the State Institution "Lepel Military Sanatorium of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus", therapeutic mud is used for diseases of the musculoskeletal system, diseases of the peripheral nervous system, diseases of the reproductive organs, etc.
Therapeutic base:
The physiotherapy department of the sanatorium provides: balneotherapy (represented by mineral, radon, carbonic acid, turpentine, pearl, aromatic, milk-honey, etc. baths; showers - Charcot, circular and underwater hydromassage), mud therapy, electro-mud therapy, electro-light therapy, laser therapy, magnetotherapy, inhalations, aromatherapy; manual and vibration massage.
The sanatorium has offices for: psychotherapy, acupuncture, ultrasound diagnostics, radiation diagnostics; fibrogastroscopy, rectoscopy, procedure room, dental office, gynecological office with colposcopy, functional diagnostics, clinical and biochemical laboratory. There is a drinking hall, a phyto-bar, a solarium, and an exercise therapy hall.
