President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko has signed Decree No. 449 "On improving state regulation in the field of information protection," BELTA was informed by the press service of the Belarusian leader.
The document has been developed to update the legal framework for technical and cryptographic information protection, create an effective regulatory legal framework for classifying informatisation objects as critically important, ensure the cyber resilience of critically important informatisation objects (CIIOs), information systems, and prevent destructive information impacts and other information threats. The Decree aims at further implementing the provisions of the National Security Concept and is interconnected with the Information Security Concept.
The Decree updates the main requirements for ensuring technical and cryptographic information protection, clarifies the powers of state bodies, as well as the rights and obligations of owners (proprietors) of information systems and CIIOs. In addition, industry criteria for classifying informatisation objects as critically important have been adjusted. This measure will allow for the additional inclusion of a number of objects from the fuel and energy complex, industrial and financial sectors, transport and communications, housing and communal services, healthcare, and education into the State Register of Critically Important Informatisation Objects.
The implementation of the measures provided for in the Decree will enable the state to enhance the security and reliability of information and communication networks and information systems.-0-
