During a working trip to the Vitebsk region and a visit to the agro-town of Kopys, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko outlined tasks for the development of urban-type settlements, BelTA reports.
Immediately upon arrival, the head of state asked responsible officials about the state of affairs in the region: "What are your impressions? What is bad?"
The President placed a special emphasis on the development prospects of urban-type settlements. Alexander Lukashenko recalled that at one time a decision was made to transform the agro-town of Kopys to show others by its example how things should be. Naturally, the availability of jobs is fundamentally important for development. Therefore, a woodworking enterprise of the Orsha forestry was built here, which now employs 50 people. Many come from other settlements, including Orsha. Therefore, as the President noted, the issue of providing housing arises. "People will move in, live and work," said the head of state. "We need to create conditions for people."
Alexander Lukashenko instructed to review the state of affairs in urban-type settlements, determine development prospects and what else needs to be done.
"We will see how urban-type settlements are being put in order. What is missing, we will discuss, we will take measures. But do not play with fire, we talk a lot, but we don't do everything," the President emphasized.
