These specialities have been introduced at the Faculty of Information Technologies and Robotics. Specifically, admissions have been announced for the speciality "Production of Products Based on Three-Dimensional Technologies". Over 4.5 years, qualified engineers will be trained here who will be able to apply their knowledge and skills in design, technological, and engineering activities related to the use of modern additive technologies. The main professional tasks of such specialists include the development and analysis of computer 3D models of parts and assemblies, their manufacturing using 3D scanning and 3D printing technologies, as well as the development and optimisation of designs for 3D printing devices. "Given the rapid development of additive technologies, graduates of this speciality will be in demand in mechanical engineering and instrument making, construction, architecture, and design, which is confirmed by applications from organisations and enterprises," noted Vsevolod Syuborov. To ensure a high-quality educational process, a modern material base has been prepared: this year, the university opened the educational and production laboratory "Centre for Additive Technologies", equipped with 3D printers and 3D scanners, as well as licensed computer-aided design systems.
Furthermore, in 2017, VSTU is launching specialist training at the first level of higher education in the specialties "Computer Mechatronics" (qualification "Engineer", duration of study 4.5 years) and "Technical Operation of Energy Equipment of Organizations" (qualification "Engineer-Power Engineer", duration of study 5 years). The former specialty will train engineers for the design of mechatronic, robotic, and information-measurement industrial systems, as well as for the development of sensor, software, and hardware for automation of technological processes in various industries, including mechanical engineering, light, food, printing, and woodworking. The latter specialty will provide training for engineer-power engineers for organisations and enterprises. Future graduates will learn to perform installation, repair, and maintenance of power facilities and units, electrical and thermal engineering equipment, as well as manage technological processes, energy departments of organisations, implement energy-saving technologies, and much more.
"As you can see, all three new specialties align with the course towards an innovation economy for Belarus. They are modern and promising. So, we invite prospective students to enrol to become in-demand professionals in the future," added Vsevolod Syuborov.
In total, the university will provide training in 19 full-time specialties in the faculties of Design, Information Technologies and Robotics, Production Technologies, Economics and Business Administration. Taking into account part-time full and shortened forms, VSTU offers training in 22 specialties. The total admission plan is 788 prospective students, of which 423 are for full-time study. "This admission plan is approximately at last year's level. It was possible to maintain it precisely due to the opening of new specialties. Meanwhile, the intake for paid study in economic specialties had to be reduced," the interlocutor concluded.
