Medical University Specialists Held Master Classes in Lepel

A training seminar titled "Medical and Social Rehabilitation of Wheelchair Users: Problems and Solutions" was held at the Centre for Labour, Social and Domestic, and Physical Rehabilitation of Disabled Persons in Lepel for specialists of the territorial centres for social services of the Vitebsk region.

A training seminar titled "Medical and Social Rehabilitation of Wheelchair Users: Problems and Solutions" was held at the Centre for Labour, Social and Domestic, and Physical Rehabilitation of Disabled Persons in Lepel for specialists of the territorial centres for social services of the Vitebsk region.

The main goal of the seminar was to train social service workers of the Vitebsk region in competent rehabilitation of people with disabilities. This was explained to the guests by neurologists, lecturers from the Department of Medical Rehabilitation and Physical Education of the educational institution "Vitebsk State Order of Friendship of Peoples Medical University", Alla Valuy and Konstantin Stakhnev.

During the lectures, specialists acquainted the participants with modern means, principles, and approaches in the rehabilitation of disabled persons, and conducted master classes on therapeutic physical culture aimed at maintaining and restoring motor activity in wheelchair users.

Participants in the seminar included Viktor Azarenok, Deputy Chairman of the Lepel District Executive Committee, Sergey Kaminsky, Chief Specialist of the Department for Social Support of the Population and Stationary Institutions of the Committee for Labour, Employment and Social Protection of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Edelthraud Schill, Chairperson of the Board of the charitable organisation "Homes instead of Chernobyl" (via video link), and specialists from the territorial centre for social services of the Lepel district.

The event was made possible by the successful implementation in the Lepel district of the project "Capacity Building in Working with People with Disabilities through Professional Development and Workshop Expansion in Lepel".
