It is planned to name significant sports facilities, which will be built in the region or opened after modernization, after prominent athletes born in the Vitebsk region. This was announced today to journalists, answering a question from a BELTA correspondent, by Viktor Bynkov, Executive Director of the NOC representative office in the Vitebsk region. This idea has found support from the regional executive committee and representatives of the sports community, and the first facility where it will be implemented will be the renovated boxing hall in the central sports complex of the regional center. This facility will be named after the famous Vitebsk boxer, Olympic champion Vyacheslav Yanovsky. The opening of the boxing hall after major repairs is planned in the near future. At the initiative and with the direct participation of the regional NOC representative office, information dedicated to the renowned Vitebsk athlete will be used in the design of the hall. "This will provide an additional moral incentive, and will discipline the young athletes training in such a facility in a special way, as it is impossible to train poorly in the Yanovsky hall," Viktor Bynkov is confident. Perhaps, in the near future, the region will have a wrestling hall named after Igor Kanygin or a biathlon school named after Svetlana Paramigina, he added. In recent years, several interesting projects have been implemented in the region to perpetuate the names of distinguished sports figures and to promote the sporting achievements of the region's natives. And in the near future, another significant step will be taken in this direction - perpetuating the names of coaches who have trained Olympic medalists from ordinary Vitebsk boys and girls. "Today, a project for the modernization of the Vitebsk Region Olympic Glory Alley is ready, which provides for the creation of a memorial sign with the names of our renowned coaches," said Viktor Bynkov. The memorial sign will be made in the form of a sports cup, on the walls of which the names of the coaches will be placed on special plaques. In addition, the modernization of the alley involves saturating the spatial complex with diverse information about athletes and the development of sports in the Vitebsk region.
