"In the Vitebsk region, a positive trend in wage growth has been ensured this year. The average monthly wage for January-August amounted to Br789.8. It increased by 19.1% compared to the same period in 2017. The growth rate is good, but if we compare it with other regions, we are only ahead of the Mogilev region. It is planned that by the end of this year, the average wage in the region will be Br848, including Br940 in December," said Svetlana Zinovyeva.
The fulfillment of the forecast indicator for the number of employed in newly created jobs through new production facilities and enterprises is also under special control. This is a key indicator of the performance of the chairmen of district executive committees.
To increase the motivation of agricultural workers and retain them in rural areas, recommendations have been approved for establishing increased salaries and incentive payments for veterinary and zootechnical service specialists. "Despite the fact that the APK has the lowest wage level, in August of this year, this sector had one of the highest growth rates – 120.4%. Nevertheless, ensuring the timeliness of wage payments remains a problematic issue," noted the head of the department.
She added that from September 1, tariff rates for certain categories of education and healthcare workers have been increased. An increase in the tariff rate of the first category for employees of budget organizations is also planned from October 1, which will allow for a 4.4% increase in the wages of all employees.
A round table discussion dedicated to the World Day for Decent Work was held in Vitebsk. It was attended by chairpersons of city and district trade union associations, representatives of the legal and technical labor inspectorate. Specialists discussed key aspects of the activities of primary trade union organizations, issues of collective bargaining regulation and labor protection in work collectives. Similar meetings with trade union activists will be held in all districts of the Vitebsk region as a continuation of the round table.
