Thus, the average wage of workers in Minsk in August amounted to Br1,138.3 (in July - Br1,141.3). Minsk traditionally leads in Belarus in terms of average wage - in August, this figure was 1.35 times higher than the national average.
The second position is held by the Minsk region, where the average wage in August increased to Br886.8 (in July it was Br841.4), and the third position is held by the Gomel region (Br761 and Br741.1 respectively). The average August earnings in the Grodno region were Br735.9 (in July - Br717.4), in the Brest region - Br733.8 (in July - Br717.9), in the Mogilev region - Br723.9 (in July - Br709), in the Vitebsk region - Br714.3 (in July - Br702).
Overall, the real wage across the republic (wage calculated taking into account the growth of consumer prices for goods and services) in January-August 2017 increased by 2.8% compared to the corresponding period in 2016. The highest growth in real wages was recorded in the Minsk region (by 6.3%), while in the Vitebsk region this figure was the lowest (by 2.6%).
As previously reported, the nominal accrued average monthly wage of employees of organizations in Belarus (excluding micro-organizations and small organizations without departmental subordination) in January-August of the current year amounted to Br784.5. The average wage in August reached Br844.4 - an increase of Br16.9, or 2%, compared to July 2017.
