On September 21, Minsk /BelTA correspondent/. The dates for the autumn conscription into the border service of Belarus will be shifted this year, the press center of the State Border Committee (GPC) informed BelTA correspondent. "A distinctive feature of the current autumn conscription campaign is that it will take place later," the committee reported. This is due to the upcoming Ice Hockey World Championship, scheduled for 2014. It is the current conscripts who will ensure security at the border during this period. To avoid the championship coinciding with the "shift change" between conscriptions, it was decided to move the dates. However, specific dates have not yet been determined. In any case, representatives of border groups and detachments will soon begin work in military commissariats throughout Belarus. "Psychologists and doctors will have to select the best of the best," the GPC explained. The department added that, according to information from the regions, the vast majority of conscripts are eager to serve. At the same time, the committee noted that desire alone is not always enough, as the selection for the border service is the strictest: "Those who have had problems with the law, even for an administrative offense, will definitely not serve on the border." In addition, the GPC reminded that for young men who wish to dedicate their lives to the border more thoroughly, the doors of the Border Service Institute are open. Those who have proven themselves during their compulsory service will be eligible for admission to the institute on a non-competitive basis. -0-
