13 May, Minsk /BELTA correspondent/. The duration of compulsory military service in Belarus is not planned to be changed. This is stated in a commentary posted on the website of the Ministry of Defence of Belarus, prepared in response to appeals received by the ministry regarding the alleged planned increase in the duration of compulsory military service. "The press service of the Ministry of Defence states that no changes to the duration of compulsory military service are planned. All servicemen who have completed the established terms of military service will be discharged to the reserve in a timely manner, within the deadlines established by law," the message reads. In accordance with the Law "On Military Duty and Military Service", the following terms of military service are established for citizens undergoing compulsory military service by conscription: those without higher education - 18 months; those with higher education - 12 months; those who have undergone training at military departments or faculties under junior commander training programs, and have passed the exams established by the training programs - 6 months. -0-
