The U.S. Federal Register, in accordance with the directive of Secretary of State Hillary Clinton dated June 17, 2010, published a U.S. Department of State notice on the extension of the normal trade relations (NTR) regime for Belarus for another 12 months, during which the Jackson-Vanik amendment to the Trade Act of 1974 is suspended. This was reported to BelTA by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus. This decision by the American administration will allow Belarusian exporters to benefit from preferential trade terms with the USA. For an exporting country, the benefit of using the NTR regime lies in exporting its products while paying lower customs duties, thereby increasing the competitiveness of its products in the American market. -0-
