This year, the festival's programme features renowned guests from Russia and Germany, and timeless classics – from Mozart and Bach to the complex works for symphony orchestra by Shostakovich. The forum will open on December 7 with the State Symphony Orchestra of the Republic of Belarus conducted by Alexander Anisimov. The concert will feature works by D. Shostakovich, V. Kuryan, G. Gorelov, and V. Kuznetsov.
Guests of the opening evening and all subsequent concerts will also be able to visit the exhibition of works by students of the Design Faculty of Vitebsk State Technological University, titled "Playing with Classics. Visual Immersion," in the foyer on the second floor of the philharmonic hall.
On December 12, listeners will be invited to a "Russian Music Evening" featuring the harmonious interplay of violin and piano, presented by the laureate of international competitions, People's Artist of Russia Maxim Fedotov, and Honoured Artist of Russia Galina Petrova. The programme includes five pieces for violin and piano by P. Tchaikovsky, the Polovtsian Dances from the opera "Prince Igor" by A. Borodin, and other best examples of Russian classics.
The SPARK soloists' ensemble (Germany) will perform on December 14 with the programme "On the Dancefloor." The creative output of this unique international collective is a fusion of classical and avant-garde styles with the minimalism of popular stage and experimental electronic music. The quintet will take the Vitebsk audience on a dance journey from Baroque and Rococo through Classicism and Romanticism to the glamorous twenties and the disco era, from elegant ballet music to techno.
On December 17, the ensemble of soloists "Classic-Avant-garde" (Belarus), a regular participant of the festival and a laureate of international competitions, will dedicate the program "Seven Colours of Love for Chagall, Poet and Orchestra" to the 130th anniversary of Marc Chagall. The joys and sorrows of the artist, his suffering and aspirations, fantastic truth and true fantasy – all this will be seen, heard, and felt by the audience in a theatrical and musical performance. The mood will be created by the music of Chagall's favourite composers (I. Akhron, M. Gnessin, A. Krein, Y. Engel, A. Tansman, M. Gebirtig), interspersed with verses by classic poets.
In addition, the program includes a traditional concert by teachers and students of the Vitebsk State Musical College named after I. Sollertinsky, which will take place on December 4 and will serve as a prelude to the opening of the forum.
Scientific readings are an integral part of the I. Sollertinsky International Music Festival. They will be held for the 19th time (December 7-8).
