The "Orion" camp, run by the District Centre for Children and Youth, has been established on the basis of a former school. The building has been fully renovated and re-equipped using funds saved through optimisation in the education system. It is located in a picturesque area within a pine forest, near the Kabishchanka River. The camp can accommodate 105 children aged 6-18 for health improvement at any one time. They have access to dormitories and recreation rooms, all furnished with new furniture. There is a canteen and a food preparation unit, with five balanced meals a day guaranteed. Free Wi-Fi is provided for the children. This is the first health resort camp in the region to feature its own ropes course, with its opening scheduled for July 21.
"The first specialised session, focusing on arts and aesthetics, has been running since July 12. We have 103 boys and girls attending, not only from the Vitebsk Region but also several children from Moscow. This session will last until July 29. From August 2 to 19, the second session will be held – sports and tourism, with corresponding additional club activities. All places have already been booked," said Galina Simurova, Director of the Centre for Children and Youth. Under the careful guidance of the camp director, Tatiana Filimonova, who is also the director of the Palminskaya Secondary School, a large staff is working with the children. This includes 16 educators, a youth worker, a cultural organiser, a physical education instructor-methodologist, medical staff, cooks, the head of the хозяйственная часть (household department), and others.
The children's leisure time is filled with various activities. These include trips to Horadok, where one of the country's best climbing walls is equipped at Secondary School No. 2. Here, children can also participate in tourist and applied multi-discipline events on a specially equipped, standard course for competitions. Additionally, the children can look forward to an exciting game of laser tag on two training grounds, participation in interest-based clubs, a whole spectrum of sporting adventures, show programs, discos, engaging excursions, contests, and quests.
