May 16, Minsk /BELTA/. The refinancing rate of the National Bank will be reduced by 1 percentage point from May 19 and will be set at 21.5% per annum. This decision was made by the Board of the National Bank, the Information and Public Relations Department of the National Bank informed BELTA.

"This measure will increase the availability of loans while maintaining a high yield on ruble deposits, exceeding the yield on foreign currency deposits," the National Bank noted.

In May, the National Bank continued the gradual reduction of interest rates in the economy, which remain at a significantly positive level in real terms. At the same time, the approaches to monetary policy remain sufficiently stringent, contributing to the maintenance of macroeconomic balance, the National Bank emphasized.

The National Bank last changed the refinancing rate in April 2014, by 1 percentage point to 22.5% per annum. -0-
