16 April, Minsk /BELTA/. The refinancing rate in Belarus will be reduced by 1 percentage point to 22.5% per annum from April 16. This decision was made by the Board of the National Bank and is enshrined in Resolution No. 217 of April 4, BELTA reports.
As explained earlier by the National Bank's management, the reduction in the refinancing rate is due to objective reasons. "Today, it is possible to lower the refinancing rate while maintaining the stringency of monetary policy," noted the First Deputy Chairman of the Board of the National Bank of Belarus, Taras Nadolny. "Given that the inflation rate is decreasing, the grounds for reducing the refinancing rate by one percentage point are quite objective." He argued these measures, among other things, with a certain stabilization in the Belarusian money market.
The National Bank last changed the refinancing rate level in June 2013 – by 1.5 percentage points to 23.5% per annum. -0-
