16 February, Minsk /Lyudmila Sats - BELTA/. The refinancing rate in Belarus may be increased this year. This was announced today by Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Sergei Rumas in the House of Representatives, BELTA correspondent reports.
Sergei Rumas recalled that the government and the National Bank set the task to reach the refinancing rate level of 6-8% per annum in 2015. "But everything will depend on how the situation in the economy develops," Sergei Rumas believes.
"It is possible that already this year, taking into account the inflation rate, the refinancing rate will have to be increased, despite the fact that the government and the National Bank declared that in 2011 it would only narrow," the Deputy Prime Minister stated.
He also added that, in his opinion, preferential interest rates only corrupt and lead to nothing good. -0-
