On January 3, Minsk /BELTA correspondent/. Scholarships in Belarus will increase by an average of almost 20% from January 1. The corresponding Decree No. 619 "On Amending Decree of the President of the Republic of Belarus of September 6, 2011 No. 398 and Repealing Decree of the President of the Republic of Belarus of October 13, 2011 No. 460" was signed by the head of state Alexander Lukashenko on December 30, BELTA was informed by the press service of the Belarusian leader.
The document is adopted to enhance the social protection of students.
"The Decree establishes the amount of scholarships for pupils, students, postgraduate students and doctoral candidates, which ensures an increase in the income of this category of citizens at the level of wage growth for employees in the public sector. On average, the scholarship amount increases by 19.4%," the press service reported.
The adoption of the decree is evidence that the state's concern for youth remains a priority task of Belarus's social policy.
The decree comes into force on January 1, 2012.
