The final stage of the republican competition "Volunteer of the Year - Kind Heart" will bring together the top 100 BRSM volunteers from all regions of Belarus in Minsk on December 5, the Secretary of the Central Committee of the Public Association "Belarusian Republican Youth Union" Alexandra Goncharova told a BELTA correspondent.

Traditionally, the event will begin with a volunteer intensive. "The participants will be divided into 4 groups for training. We approached the selection of our trainers very thoroughly. The first trainer will be Veronika Rozhkova, winner of the competition in the nomination 'Best Training Program for Volunteers'. The fact that the first training for volunteers will be conducted by the winner in this nomination was a condition of the competition. The second trainer is a good friend and partner of our organization, four-time world champion and eight-time European champion in wheelchair ballroom dancing, winner of the gold medal of the Belarusian Championship (2018) Anna Gorchakova. She will conduct a training on communication skills. Two more trainers will be from our partner organizations - the Republican Public Association 'Belarusian Association of UNESCO Clubs' and the Private Educational Institution 'Office for the Promotion of Initiatives' (we work with this organization on European Voluntary Service programs)," said Alexandra Goncharova.

In addition, 7 interactive platforms will operate under the dome of the "Stolitsa" shopping center. "Each region will showcase its unique feature. For example, the Minsk region is creating a play area, the Grodno region is preparing a master class on paper twisting for quilling, and the Brest region will conduct clown therapy and a master class on twisting (this is the creation of various figures from long balloons). In addition, we will create the largest beating heart from our volunteers. Our hearts will beat in unison with kindness and the traditions of the volunteer movement. All participants can expect a sea of surprises, a meeting with Ded Moroz (Father Frost), Snegurochka (Snow Maiden), and the symbol of 2019," noted the Secretary of the BRSM Central Committee.

Alexandra Goncharova added that it has become a tradition to summarise the year's activities of the "Kind Heart" volunteer movement on December 5, International Volunteer Day. The best volunteer teams among students and working youth will be selected. Deserved awards will be presented to young people who have won in the nominations "Personal Contribution", "Best Volunteer Project", and "Best Social Media Group". A new nomination this year is "Best Training Programme". The "Best Territorial Committee of the BRSM NGO for the Implementation of Republican Charity Campaigns 'Miracles for Christmas', 'To School with a Kind Heart', 'We Choose Help for the Elderly', 'Restoration of Belarus's Holy Sites', 'Children's Day with BRSM', the charity marathon 'All the Colours of Life for You', and the youth festival-exhibition 'Easter Cake' will also be announced.

The main goal of the competition is to identify and encourage leaders of the volunteer movement who carry out public and socially significant volunteer activities. "Volunteering is not only a calling but also a way of life. Volunteer activities provide an opportunity to prove oneself in various projects, gain experience from specialists in psychology, pedagogy, medicine, social work, and public relations, and offer new opportunities for professional growth. Volunteers can share their talents and hobbies with children, opening up a completely different world for them. Through volunteer activities, one can find friends and gain new social experience," emphasised Alexandra Goncharova.

The "Kind Heart" volunteer movement is one of the leading areas of BRSM's activities. It unites 37.5 thousand young men and women across the country. Young people not only implement social projects but also perform the responsible mission of assistants at large-scale sports and cultural events in Belarus: they provide assistance to athletes, delegations, and officials, and work with spectators. In November, BRSM volunteers worked with delegations and finalists of the international children's song contest "Eurovision-2018". As part of a large volunteer team, BRSM volunteers are also planning to work during the II European Games - 2019 in Minsk.
