Traditionally, women lead among domestic centenarians: 464 women and 67 men have passed their 100th birthday; the number of men among those who celebrated their hundredth birthday is 7 times less.
According to specialists, as of January 1st of the current year, there were five Belarusians aged 110 and older in the republic, including two residents of Grodno and Minsk regions aged 115 and older, who were born at the dawn of the last century.
Among the country's regions, Grodno region is the leader in the number of centenarians: as of January 1st of the current year, there were 106 people over 100 years old here. Minsk region is in second place in the gerontological rating (94), and the city of Minsk is in third place (74). Brest region is home to 70 people who have already celebrated their centenary, Gomel region has 69, Vitebsk region has 65, and Mogilev region has 53.
