Among the domestic centenarians, women lead by a sevenfold margin: 365 women and 50 men have celebrated their centenary.
According to specialists, as of January 1st of this year, five Belarusians in the republic are in the venerable age category of 110 years and older, including one person – a resident of the Grodno region – aged 115 and older.
The Grodno region traditionally leads among the country's regions in terms of the number of centenarians: as of January 1st of the current year, there were 81 people over 100 years old here. The Vitebsk region is in second place in the gerontological ranking (66), and the Gomel region is in third (58). The Minsk region is home to 56 people who have already celebrated their centenary, the Brest region – 55, the city of Minsk – 54, and the Mogilev region – 45.
