24 June, Minsk /Tatsiana Pastushenka - BELTA/. Belarusian MPs ratified the Agreement on Cooperation of the Commonwealth of Independent States Member States in Ensuring Information Security at a meeting today, BELTA correspondent reports.
The Agreement was signed in Saint Petersburg in November 2013. As explained by the Chairman of the State Security Committee of Belarus, Valery Vakulchik, the purpose of the document is to conduct joint coordinated measures aimed at ensuring information security.
The parties will organise interaction and cooperation in various areas, including the supply and development of regulatory legal acts and regulatory and methodological documents governing relations in the field of information security. It is envisaged to create secure information systems for various applied purposes, as well as to organise cross-border information transfer.
"Improving the technology for protecting information systems and resources from potential and real threats is important," noted Valery Vakulchik.
In turn, the Deputy Chairperson of the House of Representatives Standing Commission on Human Rights, National Relations and Mass Media, Oksana Nekhaychik, noted that the bill as a whole is aimed at more effective use of the latest technologies to strengthen the counteraction to modern threats in the field of information security. -0-
