18 December, Vitebsk /Diana Kurilo - BELTA/. Construction workers in the Vitebsk region can earn a salary of around Br10 million. This confidence was expressed today at a session of the Vitebsk Regional Council, where the socio-economic development forecast for the region for 2013 was discussed, by the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Alexander Kosinets, as reported by a BELTA correspondent. "It is quite possible to earn a salary of Br7-10 million in the sector. You just need to work, increase labour productivity, stop taking smoke breaks, and refrain from drunkenness at the workplace," said the governor. He demanded the strictest discipline be enforced at construction sites. Currently, a large-scale modernisation is underway in the sector. The production capacities of two house-building plants in Vitebsk and Novopolotsk are being updated. After reconstruction, these enterprises combined will be able to build 340,000 sq.m of housing using modern energy-saving European technologies. The modernisation of the Vitebsk wood processing plant is nearing completion, and a new workshop is being erected at the Novolukoml expanded clay aggregate plant. This year, 403,000 sq.m of housing will be commissioned in the region, and in 2013, 600,000 sq.m of housing is to be built. -0-
