On November 8, Vitebsk / Sergey Kotovets - BELTA /. Alena Smulskaya, a student from the Orenburg State Agrarian University, became the winner of the international inter-university competition "Miss CIS - 2011", which concluded at the Vitebsk State Academy of Veterinary Medicine. Along with the title of the main beauty, the girl took home a crown adorned with rock crystal and pearls, as well as a netbook, as reported to a BELTA correspondent by Vitaly Velikanov, Vice-Rector for Educational Work at the Vitebsk university. Maria Berejnaya from the Volgograd State Agricultural Academy was recognized as the first runner-up. The title of second runner-up was awarded to Yulia Alekseeva, a student at the Velikiye Luki State Agricultural Academy. Belarusian participants in the competition received prizes in special nominations. Elena Strokina, a student at the Belarusian State Agrarian University, became "Miss Charm," while Kristina Voloshko and Daria Darashkevich, representatives of the Vitebsk State Academy of Veterinary Medicine, received awards for "Miss Creativity" and "Miss Grace," respectively. Anastasia Volkova from the Belarusian State Agricultural Academy was recognized as "Miss Originality." The competition featured 12 young women from agrarian universities in Belarus, Russia, and Ukraine. The suspense regarding the results was maintained until the evening of November 5, as the award ceremony for the competition winners became a highlight of the celebration marking the 250th anniversary of veterinary education held on that day. The organizers ensured that each participant left Vitebsk with not only good impressions but also awards. Thus, Yulia Klochko (Kharkiv State Zooveterinary Academy) became "Miss Audience Choice," Anna Lesnikova (Ryazan State Agrotechnological University) was named "Miss Resourcefulness," Yulia Platonova (Smolensk State Agricultural Academy) won "Miss Top Model," Kristina Savchenko (Saint Petersburg State Academy of Veterinary Medicine) received "Miss Admiration," and Anastasia Legenkova (Moscow State Academy of Veterinary Medicine and Biotechnology) was awarded "Miss Charm." All participants received sets of linen products as gifts, as well as various technical devices for leisure and work. Incidentally, the crown for "Miss CIS" is an original work by Vitebsk master jeweller Georgy Smolievsky.
