Students of Belarusian State University have been granted a 10% discount on meals at the university's canteens and cafes, the BSU press service informed BELTA.
"The bonus applies to full-time undergraduate and master's students, as well as postgraduate and doctoral students of the university. The discount is valid throughout the entire period of study at the university, including holidays," the press service noted.
To receive the discount, students must present their electronic student ID (a multifunctional intelligent identification card for learners).
This will allow students to save an average of Br6 per month on meals, and the annual savings could approach the amount of an increased scholarship. This calculation is relevant for a minimum set lunch (first course, main course, salad, and drink) costing from Br3.
In addition to the canteen menus, the discount also applies to products manufactured in-house at BSU's cafeterias and buffets. Currently, the university operates seven canteens, 11 buffets, one cafeteria, and a confectionery.
The development of the discount system was made possible by the implementation of the "Nutrition" hardware and software complex (HSC) at all catering facilities of the university. It increases service speed, identifies visitors, and analyses their preferences. The system also records peak attendance times at BSU's canteens and buffets. The press service noted that the leading university was the first among educational institutions to implement this HSC, which was developed by the university's Information Technology Centre.
The BSU Public Catering Centre (PCC) regularly improves the quality of its services. In addition to the data obtained through the "Nutrition" system, the results of a university-wide monitoring of catering facilities are taken into account when developing menus.
Currently, the Centralized Service Department is developing a pre-order meal service called "Ready Solution" for employees and students. This service will reduce food preparation time on weekends.
