Students of Vitebsk State Medical University will undertake a cycling expedition on May 31 - June 1, covering sites of fierce battles during the Great Patriotic War, BELTA was informed by the university.

A ceremonial send-off for the students' cycling expedition, dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders, will take place today at Victory Square by the eternal flame. The route will traverse the Vitebsk and Beshenkovichi districts, spanning over 45 km. In each settlement, participants will lay flowers at monuments and military graves of Great Patriotic War heroes. An overnight stop is planned in the village of Krupenino, Beshenkovichi district. Here, organizers have prepared a rich sports and cultural program. Participants can look forward to volleyball matches, mini-football, a competition for tourist skills and amateur arts.

The idea for the expedition originated over six years ago. Its aim is the civic-patriotic education of the university's student youth, and the promotion and popularization of cycling, tourism, and a healthy and active lifestyle.
