The court of Lepel District has considered a criminal case against a native of Kamenka village who committed a crime under Part 1 of Article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus.

In the autumn of 2018, the accused, aged [age not specified], resided with his acquaintance G. in Lepel. On one of the days in November, while passing through the cemetery, he noticed that some of the grave enclosures were made of metal chains. At that time, he decided that he could steal these chains. He decided to come for them at night or in the evening. He took a wheelbarrow for stealing the chains without permission from his acquaintance, with whom he was staying. Thus, he stole chains from several enclosures in the cemetery. He stole the chains from the cemetery alone, handed them in at a procurement kiosk, and spent the money on alcohol.

Both during the preliminary investigation and the court proceedings, the native of Kamenka village pleaded guilty and sincerely repented. The damage has been fully compensated.

Taking into account the position of the state prosecutor, the court of Lepel District found the native of Kamenka village guilty of committing the crime stipulated by Part 1 of Article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus and sentenced him to 240 hours of community service.

In accordance with Part 1 of Article 107 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus, compulsory measures for the security and treatment of chronic alcoholism were applied to him at his place of residence.

This sentence of the court of Lepel District has entered into legal force.
