The court of Lepel District has considered a criminal case against a native of Gomel city who committed a crime under Part 2 of Article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus.
A previously convicted native of Gomel city, in early June 2019, while intoxicated, was wandering around Lepel city at night. Passing by one of the streets, he noticed the wicket gate of a house and decided to enter the yard. He opened the gate and saw two cars parked there. The doors of one of the cars were unlocked. Opening the car door, he sat in the front seat and used a flashlight to search for something valuable. In the driver's door, he found a wallet containing 90 Belarusian rubles and 10 US dollars. He took the money from the wallet and got out of the car. He left the yard and spent the money on alcoholic beverages and cigarettes, and also topped up his phone balance.
Both during the preliminary investigation and the court proceedings, the native of Gomel city admitted his guilt and sincerely repented.
Taking into account the opinion of the state prosecutor, the court of Lepel District found the native of Gomel city guilty of committing the crime stipulated by Part 2 of Article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus and sentenced him to 3 months of arrest.
In accordance with Part 1 of Article 107 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus, compulsory measures for the security and treatment of chronic alcoholism were applied to him at his place of residence.
This sentence of the court of Lepel District has entered into legal force.
