The court of Lepel District considered a criminal case against a native of Orsha city who committed a crime under Part 1 of Article 174 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus.
A native of Orsha city, born in 1989, was obliged by a court order to pay alimony for the maintenance of his minor daughter V., born in 2008, and his minor son R., born in 2016. From September 2018 to February 2019, he intentionally evaded paying maintenance for his minor children for more than three months within a year. For a long time, he did not work, took no measures to find employment, pay off arrears, or make payments for his daughter's maintenance, resulting in an alimony debt of 5 months and 26 days. By doing so, he significantly violated his children's constitutional right to a decent standard of living, including adequate food, clothing, housing, and the continuous improvement of the necessary conditions for this.
Both during the preliminary investigation and the court proceedings, the native of Orsha city admitted his guilt and sincerely repented.
Taking into account the opinion of the state prosecutor, the court of Lepel District found the native of Orsha city guilty of committing a crime under Part 1 of Article 174 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus and sentenced him to 220 hours of community service.
This sentence of the court of Lepel District has entered into legal force.
