Vitebsk continues to improve its road infrastructure by implementing modern technologies to enhance the safety of all road users. Recently, new-generation traffic lights equipped with innovative contour LED backlighting have been installed and commissioned at the intersection of Zamkovaya and Kalinina streets.
This was reported by the traffic police department of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee Internal Affairs Directorate.
This innovation is not just an aesthetic improvement to the urban landscape but also a significant step towards increasing overall road safety in the city. The main advantage of such traffic lights lies in their improved visibility.
Thanks to the bright LED backlighting, the contour of the traffic light becomes more noticeable at any time of day, which is particularly critical in conditions of poor lighting, early in the morning, or late in the evening. Furthermore, the enhanced visibility of these devices is evident in adverse weather conditions – during heavy rain, snowfall, or dense fog, when traditional traffic light signals may be less discernible.
This allows drivers and pedestrians to recognise the signals in advance and more clearly, which facilitates timely decision-making and, consequently, reduces the risk of road traffic accidents.
