February 1, Minsk /BELTA/. 4G communication in Belarus is available to 89.4% of the population, the Ministry of Communications and Informatization informed BELTA.
"The coverage of the population and territory of the republic with mobile cellular telecommunication services using LTE technology has significantly increased over the past six months and at the end of 2020 amounted to 89.4% and 30.6% respectively," the ministry noted.
Second-generation (2G) mobile cellular telecommunication services are available in 98.7% of the country's territory, and third-generation (3G) services are available in 98.4%.
As of January 1, 2021, telecommunication services are provided by 189 telecommunication operators.
The number of fixed broadband internet subscribers is 3.256 million, and IP television subscribers are 2.36 million. More than 3.62 million subscribers are connected to the multiservice IMS platform. The number of subscribers connected using GPON technology is 2.74 million.
The width of the external channel for internet access has increased by 50 Gbps over the past six months, reaching 1800 Gbps.
The number of mobile cellular telecommunication subscribers as of the end of 2020 is 11.66 million.
