5 December, Vitebsk /Olga Bogacheva - BELTA/. Over 15,000 pupils and students from the Vitebsk region took part in the "Labour Semester-2012", the Vitebsk Regional Committee of the BRSM informed a BELTA correspondent. According to the results of the labour semester, 15.3 thousand people worked in 757 student teams (construction, agricultural, pedagogical, ecological, service), which is 8,000 young people more than in 2011. Individual job placements were found for 416 pupils. Among those employed, 7.3 thousand were minors. "The employment of young people in construction teams involved in the reconstruction and improvement of the region's dairy farms was significant and responsible. A total of 1.4 thousand young people worked at these facilities in 122 teams," specialists emphasised. Young people were also engaged in the construction of socially significant facilities (preschool institutions in Vitebsk, residential buildings, the Ice Palace in Orsha, the central city hospital in Novopolotsk, in the "Vitebsk" free economic zone, etc.). The young people helped with the harvest, tried their hand as conductors on the Russian Railway, and went to work in Tuapse and the Krasnodar Territory, and the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug. At the same time, the number of team participants sent outside Belarus significantly increased in the current labour semester. "The organisation of secondary employment for young people is a priority area of activity for the Vitebsk Regional Organisation of the BRSM. It is important that this work is carried out with the active support and close cooperation of representatives of local executive authorities. This largely contributed to the fact that for the third consecutive year, the Vitebsk Regional Headquarters of Student Teams has been recognised as the best in the country based on the results of the "Labour Semester"," the regional committee emphasised. Today, a ceremonial meeting to summarise the results of the temporary employment of young people in the Vitebsk region, "Labour Semester-2012", will be held at the "Vitebsk" concert hall. During the official part of the event, over 60 winners in 14 nominations will be honoured, including the best members, commanders, employers, and student teams that worked within their home country and abroad. After its completion, a cultural and entertainment programme awaits the young people.
