28 December, Vitebsk /Olga Bogacheva - BELTA/. Over 30 charity events are being held by BRSM activists in the Vitebsk region for the New Year holidays, the Vitebsk Regional Committee of BRSM informed a BELTA correspondent.
The events, designed to provide assistance, joy, and warmth, are aimed at orphans and children deprived of parental care, children from low-income and large families, veterans, and lonely elderly people. For example, members of the Glubokoe District BRSM organisation are running the "Dreams Come True" campaign: on their initiative, children's letters with New Year's wishes are hung on Christmas trees located in trade, banking, and administrative institutions, with the fulfilment of which local residents are helping. In Orsha, for instance, activists of the youth movement organised the "Miracles for Christmas" campaign to collect gifts for children from orphanages and boarding schools. Students and employees of the city's enterprises and organisations joined this initiative. In Dubrovno, young people prepared a fairy-tale theatrical performance for the New Year, which is already being shown at the local territorial centre for social services. In many districts, BRSM activists are visiting lonely elderly people, veterans, children with disabilities, and children hospitalised during the holidays. The region is also hosting a regional campaign to collect stationery, toys, and gifts for children from low-income families and orphanages.
Thus, BRSM members have endeavoured to extend their care to everyone who needs attention and support during this festive period, the Regional Committee of BRSM noted.
Charity events in the region will continue until Christmas.-0-
