On August 14, Vitebsk /Olga Bogacheva - BELTA/. Over 6,000 students will assist agricultural producers of the Vitebsk region in harvesting crops, as reported to BELTA by the Committee for Agriculture and Food of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee.
The young people will be involved in harvesting potatoes, sugar beet, carrots, cabbage, and flax. They will work in all districts of the region, with the largest "youth contingent" heading to the fields of Vitebsk, Polotsk, Orsha, Gorodok, Dokshytsy, and Postavy districts.
Student teams to assist agricultural producers are currently being formed. Students traditionally head to the region's farms in September, during the peak harvesting period for vegetables and root crops.
This year, the Vitebsk region is set to harvest 4.9 thousand hectares of potatoes, 0.6 thousand hectares of root crops, 1.5 thousand hectares of vegetables, and 19.9 thousand hectares of flax. -0-
