Over a hundred warehouses for mineral fertilizers in the Vitebsk region require major repairs, as reported today at a meeting of the board of the Vitebsk Regional Committee for State Control by its chairman Vasily Maksimov, BELTA correspondent reports. During inspections conducted by the KSKS, violations in the storage of mineral fertilizers were identified. Egregious cases of mismanagement were revealed in the Sennensky district. At the warehouse of OJSC "Sennensky RayagriService", where fertilizer stocks for the farms of the entire district were stored, part of the walls were damaged, the roof was leaking, the warehouse was not closed - part of the doors was missing. Under the influence of moisture, the fertilizers caked and lost their physical properties. A similar picture was observed by the inspectors at the district mineral fertilizer base in the Liozno district - at the warehouse of OJSC "Liozno RayagriService". According to the KSKS, in the region as a whole, 136 warehouses for mineral fertilizers require current repairs, 109 - major repairs, and 8 new warehouses need to be built. Vasily Maksimov believes that this state of affairs with fertilizer storage is unacceptable. "Last year, the region spent $55 million on the purchase of mineral fertilizers, and in 2012 it needs $56 million. However, due to the negligence and dishonesty of individual managers, budget funds are used inefficiently," stated the head of the region's control department. The region's agricultural sector faces difficult tasks of achieving self-sufficiency and ensuring the country's food security while minimizing state support. In this regard, the KSKS intends to continue to strictly control the targeted use of budget funds and compliance with the terms of state support. Based on the inspection materials, the guilty officials will be brought to justice in accordance with the procedure established by law. -0-
