The district stage of the regional competition
of patriotic songs "Songs of the Youth of Our Fathers" was held at the Lepel District
House of Culture.
The song competition among the district's youth has been held for about 3 decades, but time does not diminish the interest in it. This year, both new young voices and participants from previous years took to the stage. 9 performers demonstrated their skills and creativity.
Young people aged 16 to 35 were invited in the category of solo vocalist or vocal ensemble, who had to prepare 2 compositions created between 1975 and 2005. The first was on the theme "This is our land, this is our biography," i.e., songs by Soviet, Russian, and Belarusian authors about peace, creation, and achievements of those years, as well as those reflecting significant events in the history of native Belarus, the uniqueness of its nature, and the spiritual beauty of its people.
The second song was at the participant's choice: a Soviet, Belarusian, or foreign hit.
It is always very exciting to be the first to take the stage. This mission fell to the youngest participant, Irina Sarambayeva from the Borovskaya Secondary School of G.K. Zhukov, Lepel District. She set the tone for the event. The applause in the hall indicated that the composition "My Motherland" touched everyone, and the competition among the participants was expected to be serious.
Next, Alexandra Boyko from the Zaslonovskaya Secondary School took over, and the audience heard the song "Sky of Slavs." Maria Vereskun, an organiser-teacher from this institution, performed "Cranes Fly Over Polesie."
The audience also greeted the next performer, Daria Chumak with the song "Choven" from the Agrarian-Technical College, with no less enthusiasm. The performance of Maxim Vasilenko from the same institution was also bright and unforgettable. Maxim performed the song "Native Home," which the audience sang along with him.
Anastasia Sokolovskaya from the Zaslonovskaya Secondary School was applauded loudly for her song "Winged Swings," and Yulianna Pobortseva, a teacher at the Children's Art School, performed the song "Sun of Ears."
Nikita Karaban, a rescuer-firefighter from the ROChS, demonstrated a unique performance. From the well-known song "Breath," energy seemed to spread throughout the hall.
The audience noted the high level of performing skill from the very first seconds.
the jury, represented by Dmitry Venjik, an employee of the Department for Emergency Situations.
During the first stage, well-known compositions were performed in the hall, and the audience, unable to contain their emotions, sang along with the artists and then applauded loudly.
The second part of the competition proved to be no less interesting. Songs such as "Sometimes," "Wind of Change," "My World," "The City That Doesn't Exist," and many others were performed on stage.
It is gratifying that all the performed compositions are several decades old, yet they have not lost their popularity. Musical works "flowed" from the stage, which were, are, and will be the brightest page of Belarus's spiritual wealth, a page filled with deep love for the Motherland.
The chairperson of the jury, Elena Borodeiko, Head of the Culture Sector of the District Executive Committee, noted that the judges evaluated the participants' performances based on criteria such as the relevance of the program to the performer's age and the competition's theme, the level of performance skill and preparation, vocal abilities, artistry, and stage presence. It was very difficult to determine the best, as all performances were bright, memorable, and touching, all participants were confident and demonstrated excellent vocal skills.
The "Songs of Our Fathers' Youth" competition has been running for many years because the beautiful songs are still alive. It is pleasing that the younger generation shows interest in the compositions that we listened to and loved in our youth. And this time, they demonstrated a unique performance of them, feeling what the lyricist intended to convey. Moreover, each participant is interested in finding their song. The value of the competition lies in the continuity of generations and the interest in learning about the past of their region.
As a result, the Grand Prix among solo vocalists was awarded to Dmitry Venjik, 1st place went to Nikita Karaban, 2nd place to Alexandra Boyko, and 3rd place to Yulianna Pobortseva. The Audience Choice Award was received by Irina Sarambaeva, while the creativity of the other contestants was recognized with Diplomas for participation.
The zonal round of the regional competition of patriotic songs "Songs of Our Fathers' Youth" will be held in Verkhnedvinsk on February 8.
As noted by the event organizers, the purpose of such a creative competition is to support talented young performers, improve the level of performance skills, foster patriotic and aesthetic education of the younger generation through the best examples of song genres from past years, and select young talents for participation in national and international competitions.festivals.
As the finalists shared, they chose their compositions meticulously, as it was in them
