Customs procedures within the Customs Union have been maximally simplified, stated Andrey Belyaninov, Head of the Federal Customs Service of the Russian Federation, at a press conference today, as reported by a BELTA correspondent. "There are no borders between Belarus and Russia, and no customs borders between Russia and Kazakhstan. Maximum simplification of procedures within the customs space has occurred," said Andrey Belyaninov. In his opinion, issues of improving customs procedures at the external borders of the Customs Union, while respecting the economic interests of all its participants, are now becoming relevant. The head of the Russian customs service also noted that one should not forget that the Customs Union countries border fraternal nations, and that Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan have expressed their desire to join it. Ukraine is showing keen interest in this process. "We are currently working on simplifying these types of procedures. However, simplification of procedures does not mean their complete abolition," emphasized Andrey Belyaninov. Approximately 15 issues were heard at the joint board meeting. During the meeting, regulations and compositions of working groups under the joint board were approved. Issues concerning the improvement of customs operations for transit air passengers travelling through the airports of the Customs Union member states were considered. The implementation of the decision of the Customs Union Commission of 9 December 2011 No. 899 "On the introduction of mandatory preliminary information on goods imported into the customs territory of the Customs Union by road transport," as well as the implementation of information interaction between the customs services of the CU states within the framework of controlling common customs processes, were discussed.
