An atmospheric performance introduces a new form of theatrical production in Belarus. The "Tim Theatre" troupe from Gomel has decided to create a performance that ordinary spectators could perceive on par with the visually impaired. During the production, the audience will have to engage their imagination to the fullest. This will be achieved through the plot, sound effects, ventilation, aromas, and other effects.
"Often, people with vision problems cannot fully enjoy a performance. They have to imagine what is happening on stage," explained the director of "Tim Theatre", Andrey Bordukhaev-Orel. "In our opinion, the absence of visual perception will help the audience to fully immerse themselves in the performance and even become part of it. Abroad, atmospheric performances are also interesting to people with good eyesight – if only because they allow them to experience new sensations and perceive the play differently."
The first atmospheric performance for children will be based on the play "The Snow Queen" by Ragim Musaev, based on the fairy tale by Hans Christian Andersen. The plot will retain the main storylines and introduce new characters. "Tim Theatre" is preparing an unusual production in solidarity with visually impaired people with the general support of the telecom operator velcom. According to Vyacheslav Smirnov, Head of Corporate Communications at velcom, the fairy tale was not chosen by chance for the first atmospheric production, as it is very important to foster tolerance and inclusive consciousness in society from childhood, and art can unite ordinary and visually impaired people.
The atmospheric performance will be the first such production in the CIS. It is planned that "The Snow Queen" will be presented to the public in a month's time.
