The Diana Yurchenko Contemporary Choreography Studio of the "Vitebsk" Cultural Centre has been awarded the 1st prize at the national competition of the jubilee festival of contemporary choreography in Vitebsk. The main award winners of the forum were announced at the official closing ceremony of the festival, reports a BELTA correspondent.

The second prize was shared by the jury between the Mikhail Kaminsky Contemporary Dance Workshop (Belarusian State University of Culture and Arts, Minsk) and the project by Evgenia Nikolaichuk (Minsk). The third prize was also awarded to the works of two participants. It was shared by the "Strukturers" collective (Minsk) and the joint project of the Diana Yurchenko Contemporary Choreography Studio of the "Vitebsk" Cultural Centre and Marina Kushnerova's project "Svoy Pochemk" (Vitebsk).

The unofficial Grand Prix of the national competition – the Special Prize named after Evgeny Panfilov – was awarded to choreographer Dmitry Zalessky (D.O.Z.SK.I. Contemporary Choreography Theatre, Minsk). It is noteworthy that this is the second time he has become a laureate of this prestigious award.

The recipients of special prizes, traditionally awarded by the competition's expert council, were Valentin Isakov's project "X-perImenTY" from the N. Sokolovsky Gomel State College of Arts (nomination "Postscriptum") and Dmitry Bezzubenko's project from BSUCI (nomination "For Semantic Content of Dance").

Special diplomas from the festival's General Partner, SOOO "Belvest", were awarded to RED dance company (Gomel) in the "Debut" nomination and to the D.O.Z.SK.I. Contemporary Choreography Theatre in the "For Professionalism" nomination.

During discussions with journalists, the forum laureates noted the significant contribution of IFMC to their professional development. "This is an ideal platform for contemporary dance with a professional jury, excellent technical equipment, and a sophisticated audience. A colossal exchange of experience takes place here," was a sentiment echoed both in the corridors and on the festival stage by many distinguished IFMC guests.

The International Festival of Modern Choreography (IFMC) took place in Vitebsk from November 15-19. Artists from Austria, Belarus, Germany, Moldova, Poland, Russia, Latvia, Romania, Slovenia, Ukraine, Croatia, the Czech Republic, and other countries performed at the jubilee forum.

The founders of the festival are the Ministry of Culture, the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, the Vitebsk City Executive Committee, and the National Academic Grand Opera and Ballet Theatre of Belarus. The organizer is the "Vitebsk" Cultural Centre. The general partner of the event is SOOO "Belvest".
