"An agreement for Asahi Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) to shoot a film about Belarus was reached quite some time ago at the interstate level. Six months ago, the director of the future film visited Vitebsk and formed an impression of it as a city of culture and inspiration for artists. This is the angle they want to present our regional centre in. A group of seven channel employees, along with a translator, flew into Minsk National Airport on June 6 and headed straight for Vitebsk from there, which will be the first stop on their working itinerary. Today, the journalists will be busy with filming all day," explained Daria Matskevich.
In the first half of the day, the guests from Japan will capture city views, and after lunch, they will visit places associated with Chagall: the Art Centre and the Marc Chagall House-Museum (which is particularly symbolic in the year of the 130th anniversary of the artist's birth), and also visit a children's art school. From Vitebsk, the journalists will travel to other regions, and will conclude their tour in Minsk. "Subsequently, the film about Belarus will be shown in Japan on ABC to promote tourism in Belarus and increase interest in it from the residents of the Land of the Rising Sun," added Daria Matskevich.
