The international television project "Francysk Skaryna in the Languages of the Peoples of the World" is being implemented in honour of the 500th anniversary of Belarusian book printing. This was announced to journalists by the Minister of Information, Lilia Ananich, who chaired a meeting of the working group on the preparation and holding of the celebration in Polotsk, as reported by a BELTA correspondent.

"The media will be actively involved in the Day of Belarusian Written Language. We are currently discussing the international television project "Francysk Skaryna in the Languages of the Peoples of the World" with the Belarusian Television and Radio Company. As you know, Francysk Skaryna's preface to the book "Judith" has been translated into 70 languages of the world. We want to use television to visit different countries with this preface. We want these words of Skaryna to be spoken by native speakers of French, Italian, Chinese, and all those languages into which Skaryna's preface has already been translated. I believe that this will not go unnoticed by our public and the international community," said Lilia Ananich.
She emphasised that at the Day of Belarusian Written Language in Polotsk, the traditional book exhibition will be enriched with new elements. "The Museum of Belarusian Book Printing operates here. Every year, we present the best examples of national book publishing to Polotsk. Books that have won the national competition "Art of the Book" are added to the Polotsk museum after they have travelled to international book exhibitions and visited Warsaw, St. Petersburg, Moscow, Belgrade, Beijing, and others," the minister noted.
Speaking about the timeline for preparing for the celebrations of the Day of Belarusian Written Language in Polotsk, Lilia Ananich stressed that the scripts for all events should be ready by early May. "We need to invite artists and begin rehearsals, because a celebration is not just a gathering of the best creative forces, but a cohesive thematic programme and an artistic and historical performance," the minister added.
At the meeting in Polotsk, issues related to the preparation of the Day of Written Language were discussed in detail, proposals were made, and participants visited the main venues of the future celebration.
