December 23, Minsk /BELTA/. Territorial election commissions for local elections will be formed by December 27, said Chairperson of the Central Election Commission of Belarus Lidiya Yarmoshyna on the air of the STV TV channel, according to BELTA.
Lidiya Yarmoshyna explained that the nomination of candidates for territorial election commissions will take place until December 24. There will be 1,331 such commissions. In total, about 80,000 members of election commissions at various levels will ensure the elections.
As for district commissions, they need to be formed by January 7. Lidiya Yarmoshyna added that the nomination of candidates for deputies should take place from January 12 to February 10. They can be nominated by collecting signatures or by work collectives. In addition, territorial branches of political parties can also nominate candidates. Lidiya Yarmoshyna recalled that a total of 15 parties are registered in Belarus. At the same time, the republican bodies of the parties hardly participate in the elections. "They, of course, determine the policy, but they hardly perform any legally significant actions," explained the Chairperson of the CEC.
