July 10, Vitebsk /Alena Tikhonova - BELTA/. The grand opening ceremony of the XXIII International Festival of Arts "Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk" will be held today at the Summer Amphitheatre, reports BELTA correspondent.

This year's festival is expected to be attended by representatives from 29 countries: Armenia, Belarus, Bulgaria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Great Britain, Germany, Georgia, Denmark, Israel, Italy, Kazakhstan, China, Cuba, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Mexico (for the first time), Moldova, Norway, Poland, Russia, Romania, Serbia, USA, Uzbekistan, Ukraine, Croatia, Sweden, Estonia.

The XXIII International Pop Song Performers Contest "Vitebsk-2014" will feature 21 contestants from 21 countries (jury chairman - Honoured Artist of Russia, composer, producer Kim Breitburg); the XII International Children's Music Contest has gathered 21 participants from 18 countries (jury chairman - Honoured Artist of Belarus, singer Irina Dorofeeva).

A total of 19 concerts will be held at the main venue of "Slavianski Bazaar" during the international forum. Over nine festival days (July 8-16), more than 90,000 spectators are expected.

In total, about 80 events will take place at 14 festival venues. These include 12 events at the "Vitebsk" Concert Hall; 9 at the Vitebsk Regional Philharmonic; 5 performances will be presented on the stage of the Yakub Kolas Theatre, which will become the main venue for the "Theatrical Meetings" project. The same number of productions is planned for the new festival project "Puppet Quarter" at the "Lyalka" Theatre. 3 film screenings will be held at the House of Cinema. Victory Square will be the main venue for the traditional Youth Day at the festival: the Belarusian National Youth Union (BRSM) will organise 5 events here.-0-
