The solemn oath-taking ceremony for recruits called up for active service in the border guard service of Belarus will take place in Polotsk, Smorgon, Pinsk, and Dzerzhinsk on June 9. This was reported to BelTA by the press center of the State Border Committee. Approximately 720 young men were selected as a result of the spring conscription, which was carried out under new rules this year. Previously, all conscription activities took place in April-July, but since 2011, they have been moved to February-May. The number of young men called up for border guard service has slightly decreased compared to last year. This is due to the phased transition to staffing the border guard service on a contract basis by 2017. Traditionally, the solemn events will be attended by the leadership of the State Border Committee, local authorities, as well as relatives and friends of the recruits. -0-
