21 December, Vitebsk /Diana Kurilo - BELTA/. Belarusian-made goods account for 83.2% of the total retail turnover of the officially registered trade network in the Vitebsk region, the Trade and Services Department of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee informed a BELTA correspondent. In food outlets, domestic products make up 88.6%, while non-food items from Belarusian manufacturers constitute 75.1% of retail turnover. This year, stability and a high level of product availability have been maintained in the region's consumer market. In January-November of the current year, trade recorded a 16.2% increase in sales of meat and poultry compared to January-November of last year, and sales of canned meat and sugar increased by over 40%, and flour and vegetable oil by a third. Sales of clothing and underwear over the same period increased 1.9-fold, footwear 1.7-fold, hosiery 1.6-fold, washing machines 1.4-fold, and refrigerators and freezers 1.2-fold. For 11 months of 2011, the retail turnover growth rate across all sales channels was 114.6%. In terms of turnover growth, the region ranks first among the republic's regions. Since the beginning of the year, nearly 2,000 "weekend" fairs have been held, with goods worth over Br38 billion sold. Approximately 2,000 sales of non-food items have been conducted, including those with reduced ex-factory prices by manufacturers and trade mark-ups by trading organisations. Turnover from these sales exceeded Br27 billion. 1,215 exhibitions and sales of culinary and confectionery products were organised, totalling Br1.9 billion. Since the beginning of the year, 96 trade facilities with a total area of 11.3 thousand sq.m. have been opened in the region. Currently, over 6,000 trade facilities with a trading area of 509.7 thousand sq.m. and almost 2,000 public catering facilities with 96.4 thousand seats provide trade services in the region.
