Three people died in a fire in Polotsk

Three people died overnight in a fire in Polotsk, the press secretary of the Vitebsk Regional Department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, Marina Fando, told BELTA. On the eve of the tragic event, neighbors called the police to report a drunken brawl taking place in the apartment of the deceased. The latter did not let the local police officer into the apartment, but calmed down. At night, the residents of the building already called the fire department. When the Ministry of Emergency Situations employees arrived at the scene, the fire was at the entrance door. The unemployed owner of the apartment and his wife were found on the bed, and the corpse of their acquaintance was on the floor. There was heavy smoke in the apartment, posing a threat to the life and health of the building's residents, as smoke began to spread from the second floor to the upper floors. Rescuers were forced to evacuate 15 people. "The cause of the fire is being established, but one thing is clear - the abuse of alcoholic beverages is to blame," emphasized Marina Fando. -0-
