On April 5, Vitebsk / Olga Bogacheva - BELTA /. Three people died in March on the water bodies of the Vitebsk region, the Vitebsk regional organization of OSVOD informed a BELTA correspondent. The victims of the treacherous spring ice were two fishermen and a six-year-old girl. The accidents occurred in Lepel, Postavy and Chashniki districts. The first day of April opened a new account in the sad statistics: a resident of Orsha fell through the ice on a lake near the village of Zgarda, Orsha district. His body was recovered by divers on April 2. The past month in the northernmost region of the country was characterized by unstable weather with frequent night frosts and positive temperatures during the day. Despite numerous appeals to the public to exercise caution near water bodies, as well as preventive measures by OSVOD and Ministry of Emergency Situations employees, not all residents of the region approached this issue responsibly. Thus, during March, at 24 posts and 10 stations of the regional organization of OSVOD, located on large water bodies and rivers, 143 people, including 21 children, received warnings about the danger of being on the ice. Moreover, in the last week of the month alone, when the ice became particularly fragile, 45 adults and 14 minors were warned. With the help of OSVOD employees, 3 fishermen were rescued during the past month: two in the Braslav district on Lake Drivyaty and one in the Lepel district. Currently, the rivers of the Vitebsk region have practically completely opened up, however, on many lakes, the ice cover is still in the process of destruction, characterized by looseness and fragility. In this regard, OSVOD employees warn all residents of the region about the inadmissibility of being on the ice.-0-
