13 August, Kyiv /BELTA correspondent/. Three residents of Orsha, Vitebsk region, were injured in a road traffic accident near Simferopol, the traffic police department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea informed a BELTA correspondent.
According to the department, a 35-year-old citizen of Belarus, driving a Subaru Forester car along the Krasnoperekopsk – Simferopol highway towards Crimea, at the 92nd km of the route, was distracted from driving, drove off the roadway to the right and crashed into a tree.
As a result of the road traffic accident, the driver and two passengers, children aged 10 and 13, were injured. With injuries of varying severity: concussions, closed head injuries, chest contusions for the driver, a closed fracture of the nasal bones and left forearm for the children, the Belarusian citizens were hospitalised in one of the medical facilities in Crimea.
As reported, the day before the road traffic accident involving Belarusian transport occurred in the Mykolaiv region. Driving at night in the direction of Kherson, a 38-year-old Belarusian, the driver of a Ford Transit passenger minibus, lost control while overtaking and collided with four cars driven by Ukrainian citizens. As a result of the large-scale accident, three citizens of Belarus, five Russians and five Ukrainians, including eight children aged three to fifteen, were injured and taken to hospitals in Mykolaiv. In addition, two Ukrainian children and one boy from Russia are in intensive care in serious condition, and one 32-year-old Ukrainian man is in extremely serious condition.
Since the beginning of the current year, 795 road traffic accidents with casualties have occurred in Crimea, in which 134 people died and 1073 sustained bodily injuries of varying severity. At the same time, every fourth road traffic accident occurs as a result of exceeding the speed limit, and every fifth – due to violation of manoeuvring rules. Most of them are conscious violations of traffic rules.
The traffic police of Ukraine remind that in August, as part of the traffic safety month in all regions of the country, including Crimea, the State Automobile Inspectorate is conducting a set of targeted measures, such as "Drunk Driver – Criminal", "Speed" and "Overtaking", aimed at preventing the causes of road traffic accidents, reducing road accidents and mitigating the severity of their consequences.-0-
