25 September, Vitebsk /Olga Bogacheva - BELTA/. 95.3% of the population in cities and district centres of the Vitebsk region are provided with centralised water supply. This was announced today by Anatoly Diulin, Deputy Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, at a meeting of the regional executive committee, as reported by a BELTA correspondent.
The implementation of the state programme "Clean Water" for 2011-2015 has enabled the provision of centralised water supply to 95.3% of the population in cities and district centres, as well as 76.8% of the population in agro-towns during 2011-2012.
A total of 154 socially significant facilities planned for implementation under the programme are included in the list. In 2011, the construction and reconstruction of 22 water supply and sewerage facilities were underway, with the construction of 9 of them completed within the set deadlines. In 2012, 36 water supply and sewerage facilities were under construction and reconstruction, with 14 commissioned on time. This year, 45 facilities are under construction and reconstruction, 15 of which are intake facilities. To date, the iron removal station in Kopyci, Orsha district, has been completed and commissioned. A high degree of construction readiness has been achieved for 5 facilities - in Rossony, the agro-town of Ostrovno, Beshenkovichi district, the settlement of Berezki, Dokshitsy district, Sharkovshchina, and Dubrovno.
At the same time, Anatoly Diulin noted the unsatisfactory organisation of work on the reconstruction of treatment facilities in Dokshitsy, and numerous appeals regarding the provision of quality drinking water to residents of Chashniki district and Verkhnedvinsk. He also emphasised the fact that over the three years since the programme's inception, only Br129.7 billion has been allocated to its measures, which constitutes 18% of the total funding for the five-year period.
The main goal of the regional programme "Clean Water" is to create favourable living conditions in the settlements of the Vitebsk region by improving the provision of quality drinking water to the population, modernising wastewater treatment facilities, and developing and enhancing the reliability of water supply and sewerage systems. By 2016, the results of its implementation will be the provision of centralised water supply with drinking water of normative quality to at least 98% of the population in regional and district centres, cities of regional subordination, and urban-type settlements, and centralised water supply to at least 80% of the population in agro-towns.-0-
