This opinion was expressed by First Deputy Head of the Belarus President Administration Alexander Radkov at a meeting of heads of republican media in Grodno, BELTA correspondent reports. Alexander Radkov is convinced that many republican newspapers, for example, "Narodnaya Gazeta", "Zvyazda", "Respublika", need to more actively seek their own niche in the print media market and win over an audience. In his opinion, some print publications in Belarus are closing in on themselves and write without targeting specific readers. Alexander Radkov returned to the issue of the excessive number of departmental publications, which was raised by the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko during his Address to the Belarusian people and parliament. The First Deputy Head of Administration is also convinced that their number should be reduced. Addressing the heads of republican media, Alexander Radkov touched upon some aspects of journalists' professional activities. For example, he asked under whose subordination, in the opinion of the media managers, district newspapers should be and whether they should be subordinate to the chairman of the executive committee. "If yes, then they will not be interesting to readers, because the chairman will not tolerate any criticism of himself in the newspaper. If no, then republican officials will have to come every day and reconcile the editor with the chairman," said Alexander Radkov, suggesting that the heads of mass media and journalists find an answer together to the question of the subordination of district newspapers. In his opinion, district newspapers should also publish more information from the central republican press. "You are the brain centre. As you think, so does the whole country think," emphasized Alexander Radkov and called on the participants of the seminar and all representatives of the Belarusian mass media to approach their work more responsibly and professionally.-0-
